The Eagle

MY OPINION
So last night we went and saw The Eagle. It stars Channing Tatum (GI Joe, Dear John) and Jamie Bell (Nicholas Nickelby, Jumper). Before we saw it I was really really hoping it would be close to being as good as Lord of the Rings. I was proven wrong. While I wouldn't say that it was a bad movie, I also wouldn't say that it was an awesome movie either. It was good. It was an entertaining action movie full of honor and loyalty. The action was pretty decent and intense, though Tory said that some was a bit disturbing to her at times (two off screen throat slices and a severed head, also done off screen). However, I didn't care too much for the cinematography of the battle scenes. It was too jolty and close up.

NEGATIVE
The most negative element of the movie were the Seal People. They're a native tribe that aren't exactly noble or moral. They're skin is dyed, and they have creepy tooth necklaces around their necks. Very flashy and stylist, apparently. While Marcus and Esca stayed with them, the Seal People had a ceremony to honor their young men who just became warriors. The Seal People get drunk with a sort of drug, flop around, and it just kind of disturbing to watch. The scene is over before long, though.

GOOD
There is no sexual content in the movie, and minimal language. Like less than ten words. "Bloody" is used, I remember. When you think about it, "bloody" is a total English phrase. I doubt the Romans used it. :P
I really liked the message of honor and valor in the movie. Marcus, Esca, and some of the other characters showed great character. The movie itself is about honor, about getting the Eagle of the Ninth Legion back.

The characters:

Marcus: You like him from start to finish. There is nothing negative about him, and he is very honorable. During Esca's "fight" in the beginning, he encouraged everyone to "get your thumbs up". For that reason, Esca lived.

Esca: He's my favorite character out of the ENTIRE movie. He's so totally awesome. He's noble, courageous, smart, and he's Jamie Bell. :) At the end, when Marcus told him to leave him, he refused to budge. He wanted to stay till the end.  (SPOILER) After Marcus released him from his slavery, Esca ran for help, bringing back the Ninth Legion in the nick of time.

All in all, I'd give this movie a solid 4 out of 5 stars. :)

Finally Written

Nice title, Right? Sounds so poetic! Kinda. But it fits, because I've been pondering on what to write for like ever. I still don't. Maybe an 'about me' type of thing? I told that to my sister and she scoffed, saying, "That's so typical." Maybe it is, but that's ok. :)

About Me

I'm 18.
One of my Senior pictures. I'll be graduating in May.
Tis so uber exciting. ;)

I enjoy sports. Adore horse racing. Support the Arkansas Razorbacks along with the Dallas Cowboys. And play soccer barefoot. :)

I'm an authoress. I say that like I've finished numerous novels, but don't get me wrong. I've completed five short stories about racehorses, each ranging no more than 20 pages. Currently I'm writing a novel called The Glass Timer. It's about three siblings, Calla, Archer, and Rosie. Their adventure will determine time as we know it. ;)

I'm eating Girl Scout Cookies. Thin Mints. Be jealous. :D My favorites include Thin Mints, Do-Si-Do's, and Samoas. They're the best. :)

I love watching movies. My favorites are fantasy, adventure, and costume dramas. Lord of the Rings. The Count of Monte Cristo. Reign of Fire. Master and Commander. Robin Hood. The Chronicles of Narnia. (Edmund is the best character, btw) And many, many more. The most recent costume drama that's captured my attention to the fullest is Downton Abbey. One word: amazing. Yesterday night I watched 2012. It was pretty good, but the graphics were bad. The graphics on Star Wars (another major favorite of mine) were better in my opinion. :)

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to seeing The Eagle. It looks pretty darn awesome. Plus I really like Jamie Bell, so... :D

My favorite books include the following: The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, The 13th Reality series by James Dashner, Peak by Roland Smith, ect. I'm currently looking for a new series to read. Hopefully I'll find one that compares to The Hunger Games.
The most recent things that I have accomplished are: snow tubing, which was pretty fun, but the fake snow was kinda weird, and then I skinned a deer. That was weird too. Skinning it reminded me of shucking corn for some reason. The sound, the feeling. Hmmm. Now that I've officially grossed everyone out, I'll continue by saying that, no, I did not stick my hand inside its bloody body. Amie did, though.

Well I'm running out of things to say for the moment. Stay tuned for posts of my life...
