So yeah, read on and learn more about Mira Campbell's world! :)
The Plot
After the War of Nations, the world as we know it plummeted into death and poverty. The Untied States is now a grimy, dirty, smelly place where nothing good ever happens. Places like "the Yards", " the Jungle", and others prevent morality from existing. This is the world that Mira Campbell and her friends: Thomas, Blue, Court, and Kid live in.
However, there's a place in the sky that's the total opposite. It's a place called Cityscape; a city in the sky, a city of Never-Hunger. When Mira was little, she dreamed of going there. And even now that she's older, her dreams of one day seeing Cityscape keep her afloat in her hunger-filled world.
On and on went the normal-everyday-life. Until one day Kid came back with news.
News that would make history.
News that would change Mira's life forever.
There was to be a contest, held by a family in Cityscape. It's quite simple: all you do is put your name in a drawing and then after so long, the family would reach in and grab the first name their hands came in contact with.
That name, that child under the age of eighteen, would be adopted into their family and would live in Cityscape. Forever.
Will Mira win? And if she does, at what cost?
The Setting
Cityscape is set in a dystopian, futuristic time-period. I don't think I have a specific date, though. As mentioned above, the world is no longer a place of living. It's a place of hunger, poverty, and death.
The world is commonly called the Ground Level.
The Characters
Mira Campbell: She's a strong character, as I've been told by numerous people. She's optimistic about everything (with the world as bad as it is, why think badly of everything? Why not find as much good as possible?). With dark brown hair, green eyes, and a bright face, Mira doesn't quite fit in with the "normal" look of a Bottom Dweller. She belongs in Cityscape.
Or does she?
Thomas Cole: He's quieter than a church mouse. Rarely saying a word, Thomas is an 'unreadable shadow', as Mira puts it. A leader in all things, though, Thomas is a huge impact on what Mira eventually thinks of Cityscape. He has short brown hair, steel grey eyes, and a shadowy, stern expression.
Blue Jacobs: She's sarcastic, argumentative, and just kind of fun to write about. She often gets into "friendly" arguments with Kid. She has thick black hair, bright blue eyes, and fair skin.
Court Taylor: I described him as "tall, dark, and handsome". I can't remember what he looks like, though. *hangs head in shame*. But I remember how I described him in the book. :) He's bright eyed with a talkative tongue. While Court might seems like a goof on the outside, he's a swirling mass of thought and theories on the inside.
Kid: He's a kid (5, not fifteen). What else can I say? :) No one knows his real name; It's just "Kid". With blonde hair, blue eyes, and a tall, wiry body, Kid is about as cocky and flirtatious as one can get.
Who is Kid, really? Read and find out.
OTHER INFO
I'm currently on chapter 13, out of around 50-some-odd chapters. I haven't charted what happens in each chapter, but I have written out the chapter index. That helps me a lot with my books, for I am terribly prone to rabbit trails. Like none-other.
I hope to eventually publish this piece of work. Please pray that I'll stick through with it all, and that I won't end up writing a bunch of gibberish and none-sense!
I plan to write four more books after Cityscape, their current titles being: The Traitor's Brand, Touch the Sky, Steel Grey, and When We're Home.
If you want to find out the mystery surrounding Kid, continue reading to The Traitor's Brand. ;)
Or, if you want to find out the outcome of the city in the sky, read the entire series. :)
You can read Cityscape on the site, Figment. To get to it, click the Cityscape picture on my sidebar. It will take you directly to it. :)
Stay Tuned!
